To the Pumpkin Patch!
I'd wanted to go to Sauvies Island to get a few pumpkins for Halloween carving, consumption and decoration. I've been to the Pumpkin Patch before and it was so cute with the authentic farm feel. A fresh grown produce market, a petting barn for kiddies, candied apples and corn on the cobb. Even a hay ride out to the fields to collect and bring back your prized pumpkin. I couldn't wait to share the experience with Troy! I'd been talking about it since I first felt the twinge of chill in the air that ment fall was coming.
Lets just say that I think all of Portland was wanting that same experience! A line of cars formed just to cross the bridge that lead to the Island. Once we got to the farm the parking lot was stuffed with with minivans, SUV's and people pushing shopping carts full of pumpkins. At the farm there were running, screaming, pleading and ranting kids. Along with hovering parents that brought their kids in costume but then wouldn't let them play or get dirty. Sensory overload for me.
We found a parking spot, collected our pumpkins and were back in the car in less than 25 minutes. Yet the whole trip took 3 hours! LOL. Not quite the experience I wanted to share with Troy but memorable none the less.
